AGEL Hospital Košice-Šaca is the only center providing a Level V burn care program for the catchment area covering the Košice, Prešov, Banská Bystrica, and Žilina regions—that is, approximately 2.7 million residents. In a decision by the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic, AGEL Hospital Košice-Šaca, following its classification as a Level III facility, was not approved as a supplementary program on the grounds that the current categorization criteria do not allow for the approval of a Level V Burn Program as a supplementary program for a Level III provider.
