Level III Program (Neonatal Resuscitation Care Unit—JRSN) ...(6) The specialized equipment and technical facilities of the neonatal resuscitation care unit consist of a) one neonatal crib with an electrically heated mattress for four beds, b) one standard incubator for four beds, c) one intensive-care incubator for two beds, d) one open heated bed for three beds, e) one combined bed with an incubator for five beds, f) one apnea pad for five beds, g) one pulse oximeter for screening for congenital heart defects for ten beds, h) a pulse oximeter for all beds, i) one basic vital signs monitor for every three beds, j) one comprehensive vital signs monitor for every three beds, k) an airway suction device for all beds, At the JRSN, children are to be treated in beds designated for intensive care (heated open beds, combination beds, or incubators). Apnea mats are required in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)—each crib has a pulse oximeter, and a vital signs monitor is required for every bed!

Answer

The proposal was discussed by the Categorization Commission on June 17, 2026, which partially approved it. Regarding the requirement for apnea pads, it was agreed that they need not be part of the mandatory material and technical equipment of the JRSN. The other proposed changes regarding bed capacity and material and technical equipment were not accepted. Any potential adjustments to these must first be agreed upon within the Expert Committee on Slovak Neonatology, after which the corresponding changes can be made to the legally binding documents.
