Question

The procedure “5n92c Omentectomy of peritoneal tissue” (including in combination with other procedures, e.g., 5q427.-, 5n360) must be marked as the “primary procedure” (according to Appendix No. 13), and the grouper will then classify the case under the medical service “S08-17 Peritoneal Resection,” but exclusively into the “8 Abdominal Surgery” program at Level 3. However, the indication for “omentectomy” is not limited solely to “abdominal surgery,” but also includes, for example, “gynecologic oncology” indications, i.e., for diagnoses D39.1; C54.- (for certain types of tumors); C56; C57.0.
